Police Issue July 4 Traffic Restrictions

Skateboarders, rollerbladers, and cyclists will not be able to ride downtown following the fireworks next Thursday in order to protect pedestrians.

Plymouth Police have issued parking and traffic restrictions for downtown Plymouth July 4 and in Manomet July 3.

The restrictions are similar to those put in place in years past in order to protect both private property and ensure pedistrian safety.

Traffic blocked in Manomet all day July 3

  • Traffic on Taylor Avenue will be blocked to all traffic with the exception of residents between White Horse Road and Rocky Hill Road to Taylor Avenue at Manomet Point Road beginning at 6 p.m. and remained closed as deemed necessary. 
  • All side streets that lead to the Priscilla Beach area will also be closed to all traffic with the exception of residents also beginning at 6 p.m.
  • There will be no parking along both sides of Manomet Point Road, Highland Terrace, White Horse Beach Road, Manomet Avenue, Old Beach Road, and Rocky Hill Road between White Horse Beach Road and Power House Lane all day on July 3.
  • There will also be no parking on both sides of the following side streets: Brian’s Way, Lopresti Road Vine Brook Road, Cary Road, Fair Oaks Road, Arboretum Road, Emerson Field, Saint Catherine’s Chapel, Second Church, Beaver Dam Road from State Road to Patriot’s Circle, as well as the Manomet Elementary school.
  • There will be additional parking restrictions on Melix Avenue, Cape Cod Avenue, and Reed Avenue.

Downtown restrictions July 4 start at 5 a.m.

  • There will be no parking on Water Street between Union Street and Brewster Street, the west side of Water Street between Brewster Street and Park Avenue, Carver Street, Market Street, and Summer Street from Market Street to Westerly Road all day beginning at 5 a.m.
  • Water Street will close between Union and Brewster Streets beginning at 6 a.m. and will remain closed until the conclusion of the Fireworks. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m.
  • Beginning at 6 a.m., there will be no parking on both sides of Court Street from North Street to Allerton Street, all of Main Street and Main Street Extension. There will be no parking on the east side of Sandwich Street from Water Street to Mt. Pleasant.
  • There will be no parking all day on Morton Park Road and Thoreau Road.

Road Race

There will be a July 4 5K Road Race this year before the parade. Runners will leave from the area of Court Stewwr and Hedge Road starting at 8:15 a.m.  The route will mirror that of the parade but will continue down Sandwich Street to Stephen’s Filed continuing to Union Street then Water Street to the finish.

Parade Traffic

The parade will step off from Mayflower Executive Park beginning at 9:15 a.m.  It will proceed south on Court St. to the Downtown area along Main Stret and Main Street Extension, turning left onto Water Street where the parade will disperse. There will be additional parking restrictions along Court Street in North Plymouth during the parade.

Fireworks Traffic

Fireworks traffic through the downtown and waterfront area will be in the following manner:

  • Route 3 off ramps will be closed off at start of Fireworks
  • Following the Fireworks:
  • All Route 44 traffic between Court Street and Route 3 will be diverted westbound only – Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto Route 3 southbound.
  • All Summer Street traffic will be diverted westbound – All eastbound traffic on Summer Street will be diverted at Pilgrim Hill Road.
  • All Sandwich Street traffic from Water Street south will be diverted southbound to Jabeez Corner.
  • All traffic on Main Street Extension/Main Street/Court Street between Sandwich and Samoset Street will be diverted northbound.
  • All Water Street traffic will be diverted up Brewster Street, Chilton Street and Park Avenue to Court Street.
  • All State Boat Ramp traffic will be diverted north on Water Street.
  • Skateboarders, rollerbladers, and bicycles will not be tolerated in the downtown area for pedestrian safety reasons.
