Suspect Shot During Confrontation with Plymouth Police

A Plymouth Police officer shot a suspect who refused to drop the gun he was carrying, during a confrontation on Forest Avenue Sunday.

A Taunton man has been charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on Forest Avenue in North Plymouth Sunday night.

Trevor D. Wood, 21, of 50 Harrison Ave., Taunton, was charged with two counts of armed assault with intent to murder. Wood was a passenger in a Ford van that was stopped by police at the intersection of Forest Avenue and Court Street, according to Plymouth County assistant district attorney Bridget Norton Middleton.

Police received a call reporting people in the streets with guns in the area of 3 Forest Ave. at about 8:06 p.m. When they reached the area, police found a 2006 Ford van traveling east on Forest Avenue and stopped the car at the intersection.

Witnesses told police when the car came to a stop, the right rear passenger, later identified as 21-year-old Trevor Wood, exited the car wearing a bandana on his face and carrying a gun.

Police ordered Wood to drop a handgun when he got out of the van, Middleton said. When he didn’t, a Plymouth officer shot him, she said.

Wood has been charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder and one count unlawful possession of a firearm. His arraignment date has not yet been set.

Wood was flown by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Middleton said.

Eleven others were charged with disturbing the peace, including 21 year-old Nikeisha Burden of Plymouth. Eight other adults are from Taunton and another is from Fall River.
