Plymouth South Female Athlete of the Week: Darby Andersson

The G & G/PSHS Female Athlete of the Week is senior Darby Andersson

Andersson improved her record in No. 1 singles (9-8) going (2-1) last week on the tennis court. In her first victory of the week against Sandwich, Andersson dominated the court, winning in straight sets (6-4, 6-0) against an opponent she had lost to earlier in the season. In spite of Wednesday’s rain, Andersson played a hard fought battle against one of the top singles players in the state from Carver, losing a close match (8-10). She came out on top again Friday with a win at Pembroke, beating her opponent in straight sets (6-4, 6-4). Girls’ Lacrosse is at the season’s halfway point with 10 games remaining – right on pace to reach their goal which is qualifying for the state tournament.  Thanks to Finlay’s and Hurley’s leadership; the team is currently 4-4-2.  Share your athletic accomplishments and sports news and announcements with Plymouth Patch readers! Plymouth South Male Athlete of the Week: Matthew Kotce

The G & G/PSHS Male Athlete of the Week is senior Matthew Kotce.

Kotce has been the leader of defense, picking up slack where the Boys’ Lacrosse Team has been shorthanded due to injuries.  In his best play of the year, Kotce picked off a pass from one of North’s players in the final 2 minutes securing the game. Had he not done so, the opposing player would more than likely have had a clear, fast break leading to a tied score.  Thanks to Kotce, South’s team retained the ball and won the game.
