The Republican primary for the 9th Massachusetts Congressional District was decided by 47 votes, according to WATD.
UPDATE: According to the Associated Press, Chaprales' win is by 39 votes as of Friday. ------ Congressman Bill Keating defeated Bristol County DA Sam Sutter for the Democratic nomination for the newly-drawn 9th Massachusetts District. Sutter conceded the race, calling Keating's campaign around 9 p.m., according to WATD. Keating will face Republican Adam Chaprales, who defeated Christopher Sheldon by 47 votes for the Republican nomination. Sheldon is a Plymouth resident. Chapreles lives in Barnstable. Rep. William Keating hammered home his congressional experience while Bristol County District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter tried to paint him as an ineffective advocate for the region in an often testy debate Thursday at UMass Dartmouth. Keating and Sutter met in their final debate before the Sept. 6 state primary, as they vy for the Democratic nomination in the newly drawn 9th Congressional District. Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, who is challenging Rep. Bill Keating for the Democratic nomination in the 9th congressional district accused Keating of being ambivalent about the relicensing of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station. Bristol District Attorney Sam Sutter will be in Plymouth Monday to formally announce his run for the new ninth District.
Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, D-Fall River, is officially announcing his candidacy for the newly formed 9th Congressional District Monday at several spots across the South Shore, Cape, and South Coast. Sutter will be in Plymouth at 2 p.m. at Town Hall to discuss his campaign. Sutter is running against Congressman Bill Keating, D-Quincy, who currently represents the 10th Congressional District. The districts were re-formed at the end of last year after the results of the U.S. Census were announced. THe 9th District will represent Southeastern Massachusetts from Norwell to Plymouth, west to Westport and parts of Fall River, all of Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
