Each classroom was teamed up with 29 other classrooms around the world to exchange cards. Students created original cards within their classrooms and mailed them out at the beginning of December. When the classrooms began to receive cards, students were very excited to learn about similarities and differences between themselves and their partner classes. This year's card theme was snow globes. All of the cards received were collected for a display which included a map with stickers showing the senders' locations. Cards have been received from over twenty-nine states and Canada! Students utilized Google Earth to explore locations and one class was able to Skype with a partner class in Prince Rupert, BC Canada. After two days of cancelled classes, Plymouth schools should be open Wednesday after minimal damage from Hurricane Sandy.
Plymouth Schools Superintendant Gary Maestas said school buildings sustained little damage from Hurricane Sandy Monday and that school will be open Wednesday. With five snow days built into the school calendar, a bad winter could mean adding even more days, Maestas said. Plymouth cancelled school for Monday late Sunday. "Our concern is we get the kids to and from school safely," Maestas said. Monday, South Elementary lost power and other buildings had trouble with computer systems, but so far, the only damage has been …

A recent article in the Boston Globe, "Finished with your homework?" written by Beth Teitell, highlights that the completion of homework can be a challenge for many students and their families across the Commonwealth. At Rising Tide, we view independent work, or homework, as essential to the learning process for students. Through practice, reflection, analysis, and synthesis of material, students are able to develop skills, deepen understanding, and gain content knowledge. Research has shown that there is a relationship between the time spent on homework and academic achievement for secondary school …

Family Support Resources - Bus Services-Rules and Policies The ride to and from school is essentially an extension of the school itself. Improper conduct aboard the bus is to be treated as a school offense, subject to punishment at the discretion of school administration. This may well mean a denial of the privilege of transportation. Continued offenses are to be accepted as cause for a hearing before the Assistant Superintendent of Schools or the School Committee. In the interest of safety and well being of all students being transported, students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and bus drivers must understand and practice the regulations which follow. 1.0 The driver is in full charge of the bus students therein. I don't think the intention of Twitter is to convey very important information, no more than Facebook is a good medium for important information; however, both are good platforms for conveying information that may not be vital, but adds something to the discussion. Mr. Palladino's Twitter feed is mainly comprised of photos and quick tweets about teachers and students and activities he'd like to …   more ›
