South Shore, Cape and Islands Beer Week Begins Saturday with a pub crawl to

The South Shore, Cape and Islands Beer Week delivers a whole week of craft brews to restaurants, bars and liquor stores across the region, and it starts Saturday in Plymouth. A number of establishments will be featuring beer specials or specific breweries. The taps start flowing at 2 p.m., Saturday May 4, and run all night. Here's the list of participating restaurants and pubs: Captain John's will offer a "brews cruise" featuring Cisco brews from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. May 5, known as Cinco de Mayo, will also provide a reason for several more Plymouth resturants to go Mexican for the day and serve up some cervesas. Plymouth Upper Crust Owners Pull Out of New Hingham Location

The Peel Pizza Company, formerly Upper Crust, located on South Street, is expected to open later this month.

While no pizza has been served out of 73 South Street in Hingham since the Upper Crust closed last fall, there have been three owners and two names. The latest tenant, Peel Pizza Company, is expected to open in two to three weeks. The Hingham store closed when Upper Crust filed for bankruptcy. The lease and equipment were sold at auction in December for $70,000 to Al Carvelli, the owner of the Upper Crust location in Plymouth. Carvelli, a Hingham resident, planned to reopen the Hingham shop as Upper Crust. On February 28, however, Carvelli said he sold the operation to a "finance guy" from Connecticut. Carvelli would not say who bought the restaurant that he owned, but never opened. I'm amazed that the Plymouth Upper Crust is still open. Last time we were in there was Thanksgiving Parade 2012. We ate lunch at the counter; the pizza was served cold. When they reheated it, it became hard. I asked for a glass of water, and I was given a tiny Dixie cup of water. I am not kidding. We have never returned.   more ›

Union Fish Seafood & Raw Bar Comes to Hingham Shipyard in May

The new Union Fish Seafood & Raw Bar will bring a neighborhood feel and creative seafood to The Launch at Hingham Shipyard.

The owners of Union Fish are opening another location at the Hingham Shipyard, adding to the growing wealth of restaurants. In May, Dramshop Hospitality will add high end seafood to the area when it opens its second Union Fish Seafood & Raw Bar between Alma Nove and Zendo Asian Bistro at The Launch at Hingham Shipyard. At Union Fish Hingham, Executive Chef Brandon Babiarz will elevate the casual seafood shack feel of the original Plymouth location with a base in approachable New England classics and an extensive raw bard that will be a focal point of the restaurant. Upper Crust Files for Bankruptcy Protection

The gourmet pizza chain says it owes $3.4 million.

Upper Crust, the gourmet pizza chain that expanded rapidly over the last decade, and has a location in Downton Plymouth has struggled with labor, finances and ownership problemsover the past few years, and today filed for bankruptcy protection. According to Boston.com, the company defaulted on its loan to TD Bank in late September, and said it owes at least $3.4 million, including more than $500,000 to a Brookline construction company, $234,235 to a local food distributor, and $229,049 to former Massachusetts attorney general Thomas F. Reilly, who represented the business after leaving office, according to a list of creditors filed last week with the US Bankruptcy Court in Massachusetts.
