The Board of Selectmen have rejected a Town Meeting article calling for a moratorium on wind turbines in residential areas. The article will still be on the warrant.
Despite being approved by the Planning Board, an article calling for a two-year moratorium on building wind turbines in residential areas was rejected by the Board of Selectmen Tuesday. The article was defeated on a 4-1 vote with only Selectman Ken Tavares voting in favor. According to WATD, during discussion of the article, selectmen said they had faith in the Planning Board and its permitting process. The effort involves writing a request for proposals to develop the courthouse corridor, which includes the courthouse, former County Commissioners building, and the town's former police station between Russell and South Russell streets. The Plymouth Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to appoint long-time assistant town manager Melissa Arrighi to the big job after former town manager Mark Stankiewicz resigned earlier this week.
Melissa Arrighi is now Plymouth’s Town Manager. The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to appoint her to the position during a 20-minute executive session Tuesday night, announcing it when they came into open session. Arrighi has served as assistant town manager for nearly 8 years. During that time she served as acting town manager for almost a year before Mark Stankiewicz, who resigned earlier this week, was hired.
