Narrative Nonfiction: Five Must-Read Books

Nothing is as satisfying to me as reading a well-written, compelling true story. Which is why I love narrative nonfiction. The genre reads like fiction — it has plot, character development, scene-setting, conflict — but it's all true. Sometimes the best stories are not the ones we make up, but the ones that make up our lives. Below, in no particular order, is a list of five of my favorite narrative nonfiction books — old and new. If you're looking for a good read, I encourage you to check out any on this list. You just may have a hard time putting these titles down. 1. April at the Plymouth Public Library
The Plymouth Public Library hosts events and activities for Plymouth residents of all ages.
Chess by Any Other Name Join the Plymouth Public Library in April for a series of Chess Education and Match Play Programs led by William Petrillo, a member of the United States Chess Federation and a class instructor for USA Chess. This free program, for children and teenagers ages 6-18, will take place at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 17; Thursday, April 18; and Friday, April 19. It will feature several aspects of chess play, such as the basic rules and strategies of chess, learning the history of the game, and tips for more advanced play. The sessions will culminate with a graduation tournament on the final day of the program. Participants must register for this program.
