The G & G/PSHS female athlete of the week is junior Lexy Halpin.
Over last week’s vacation, Halpin struck out 10 batters contributing greatly to the Softball Team’s victory over Falmouth. She also went 3 for 6 with 3 RBIs. Later in the week Halpin pitched a perfect game in a 5 inning decision and led the way offensively going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI’s.
The G & G/PSHS male athlete of the week is senior Sam Cheung.
The G & G/PSHS Male Athlete of the Week is senior Sam Cheung. He was the only tennis player to win both matches last week – one against Nauset and the other against Falmouth. Currently undefeated for over 6 matches, Cheung is team captain and maintains a 4 - 2 overall record. Undeniably, the Boys’ Tennis Team relies on Cheung for his leadership and his winning ability.

Plymouth South High School named three freshmen the most improved and three more outstanding students for Term 3.
PSHS freshmen Hannah Bailey, Shannon Colbert, and Cullen Murphy were named Plymouth South's outstanding students for Term 3. Freshmen Quinn Carey, Dominique Finlay, and Michael Mahoney were named most improved students among Plymouth South's freshmen class. All six students received gift certificates from Cabby Shack.

Two Plymouth South students are finalists in Photographers’ Forum Magazine's 33rd Annual College and High School Photography Contest. Several students in Plymouth South High School’s Graphic Design and Visual Communications were among the 16,000 photographs entered. Senior Caitlin Hynes and sophomore Kaeleigh Ellis were named finalists in the contest. Their pieces will will be exibited in the Brooks Institute Gallery 27 in Santa Barbara, CA. Their pieces will be judged in the final round and the winning photos will be entered in Nikon’s Emerging Photographer’s Hall of Fame.

Plymouth South students and teachers wore pink last week to support breast cancer research.
A number of staff and students at Plymouth South wore pink Wednesday in support of breast cancer research as part of Lee Denim Day. They were treated to coffee, bagels, apple crisp and cookies in the afternoon. A drawing raised $500 to support the cause. Among the prizes were PSHS clothing and gift certificates to the culinary arts department. Lee National Denim Day is a fundraiser created by Lee Jeans to support the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer programs. Since its inception in 1996, Lee National Denim Day participants have raised more than $86 million for the fight against breast cancer.

The G&G/PSHS Female Athlete of the Week is cheerleader Kimberly O’Brien. O’Brien is a Junior on the Cheer Team and is 100 percent dedicated to the sport and to her squad. This three-year veteran, who week-after-week continues to condition herself outside regular practice sessions, is always the first to step up and do what is necessary to improve the team. O’Brien is a natural leader who encourages other team members to get together with her to learn and/or perfect cheers and routines. She is the whole package: dedicated, well-rounded, spirited, coachable, and a good leader.

The G&G/PSHS Male Athlete of the Week is senior, Alec Vozzella. Vozzella is a fourth year player and a second year captain on the Golf Team. He won 2 out of 3 matches last week, including a 6-3 victory over Rockland. Not only is Vozzella to be congratulated on his outstanding sports ability, but for his leadership and involvement in the Anti-Bullying Campaign outside the playing field.

Keane scored a goal and also had an assist in a huge win over Marshfield High School. In addition, she scored a goal in this week’s win over Silver Lake High School. Keane plays strong as a forward on the team and always displays a tremendous work ethic. Find out who was named the Male Athlete of the Week.

Lamb has already enjoyed a great fall season on the football field. This past week he ran for 124 yards on 17 carries, had two rushing touchdowns, and threw for another touchdown. This is the third consecutive week since the start of the season that Lamb has run for over 100 yards. Not only is he a leader both on and off the field with the entire team, Lamb acts as a mentor to younger players on the team. Find out who was named the Female Athlete of the Week.

The female “Athlete of the Week” is Field Hockey player Serena Colbert (12). Not only did she control games against Plymouth North and Silver Lake last week, Colbert was a standout with two assists in the North game as a center midfielder. She also played a big part defensively holding opponents scoreless. Always a team player, Colbert continues to lead by example. The male “Athlete of the Week” is cross country runner Max Bassett (11) who helped lead the boys’ cross country team to their first victory against Falmouth High School in seven years. The team defeated Falmouth 24 to 31. Bassett completed the 2.7 mile course in a meet record time of 15:58. His winning time was over a minute faster than the next competitor. Congratulations to …
