Plymouth Students Outperform State on MCAS

Plymouth students, on average, scored higher on the MCAS than the rest of Massachusetts. Check out the table below.

Adjusted MCAS Math Scores Result in Perfect Scores

Plymouth North students earn perfect scores on the math portion of the MCAS, Plymouth South Cosmetology students raise money for breast cancer research, and PNHS receives the ACL Sportsmanship Award.

Earlier this month, a Newton high school student discovered that something was wrong with the way was MCAS math test was scored, resulting in higher performance levels for more than 3,000 students across the state. It also resulted in two students at Plymouth North earning perfect scores in math. Project Plymouth The 8th grade students in Mr. Hall's Civics class at Plymouth South Middle School are currently working on a yearlong service project titled "Project Plymouth". Over the course of this school year the students will come up with an idea for a project that can improve the town of Plymouth. In their civics and problem solving class the students will then research and create a plan mapping out what it will take to achieve their goal. …

Plymouth MCAS Scores in the Middle of the Pack

Plymouth North and South tenth graders are ranked 172nd in the state in English and 181st in Math, while in Science/Tech, North is 126th and South is 152nd, according to the Boston Globe's annual ranking.

Plymouth's schools were in the middle of the pack of MCAS scores, according to a Boston Globe ranking. The district is ranked 157th overall on 10th English scores, 165th on 10th grade Math scores, and 142nd on 10th grade Science and Technology scores. School Superintendant Gary Maestas told WATD that most of the scores were encouraging, and changes in the English and Math cirricula in the elementary schools have been paying off. However, he said there are still concerns with the middle school scores. Of the 690 students at Plymouth South Middle School who took the English MCAS, 64 percent were deemed "Proficient," 18 percent were rated as "Needs Improvement," 6 percent …
