Bites Nearby: Lucioso's Pub

Two longtime friends and business partners have breathed new life into one of Plymouth's historic gems.

Pizza, wings, beer and good times are to be found at Lucioso's Pub at the Jenney Grist Mill.  John Luce and Gabriel Daher's new restaurant takes the place of the Run of the Mill Tavern, which closed last year. Daher described the restaurant as having "a unique personality." Green and orange are the signature colors. Metal frogs stand at attention atop the fireplace, which, as Luce explains, echoes his interest in frogs and lizards and things. He was even the inspiration for Lucioso's mascot, a goteed, backwards cap-wearing cartoon frog indulging in pizza and beer. Pizza varieties here include bacon cheeseburger, pulled pork and hot pastrami, with Swiss, onions and honey mustard. There are more than 25 flavors of wings and tenders, like …

Bites Nearby: Crazy Eddie's American Bar & Grill

Let your inner crazy loose at this newly-opened restaurant and bar on the waterfront, while digging into all kinds of topsy-turvy foods and reveling in the live entertainment.

Once seated at Crazy Eddie's American Bar & Grill, the first thing you will notice is the panoramic view of Plymouth Harbor, courtesy of a continuous set of windows running the entire length of the dining area. This gives the restaurant, located at 6 Town Wharf in the building which formerly housed Weathervane Seafood Restaurant, an open and airy feel, and the sight of docks and boats matches a menu full of seafood. It's a "spectacular view from almost every seat in the house," general manager Cheryl Anusewicz said. Add the fact that Eddie's serves the "freshest seafood," straight from the boats into the kitchen, and you have the recipe for a classic New England eatery. Crazy Eddie's opened Oct. 6. Locals and visitors alike may be curious …

Bites Nearby: Rye Tavern

History, homegrown vegetables and herbs and distinctive menu offerings combine to form a unique dining experience in a secluded part of town.

Plymouth residents and visitors alike can take a trip through time, if only for dinner, courtesy of the recently opened Rye Tavern off of Old Sandwich Road. The establishment is located in a building dating back to the 1700s, the Wright Tavern, and is adjacent to what was once known as the Rye Field, as Chef de Cuisine Joanna Farrar explains. She said that Boston politicians would stop here for drinks on their way to Cape Cod, making it a popular watering hole. A similar atmosphere continues today, as the tavern strives to be an "everyday restaurant," without a dress code and open to all, who may stop by for a beer, cocktail or meal. The tavern, which opened for business in June, seats 50 inside among fireplaces and wooden beams and 30 on …

Bites Nearby: KKatie's Burger Bar

Burgers galore sizzle at this quaint downtown bar.

KKatie's Burger Bar is, naturally, a bar that serves burgers. Seventeen different burgers, to be exact. The restaurant opened last October. The name has confused some customers, but manager Amy Hurst, daughter of co-owner Kate, said it comes from a song that her grandfather used to sing to her mother, who, along with her business partner, simply wanted to open a small burger bar, which led to KKatie's. The patties are prepared fresh daily, said. One of the most popular burgers is the Big KKmac, with cheddar jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onions, pickles and a special sauce on a grilled sesame seed bun. Other varieties include the Good Morning Burger, with a fried egg, bacon and American cheese; the Hawaiian Burger, with pepper jack …

My girlfriend & I went to Kkatie's for a burger this past week. It's very small with all high bistro tables with stools. We are in our 60's and cannot handle that kind of seating. There is one booth available to sit at, and we were able to sit there. I wanted to try a drink that I saw on the video patch last week so the waiter had the bartender come over to discuss the drink & take our order. …   more ›
