Price, taste and entertainment help T-Bones Roadhouse claim the best breakfast in Plymouth.
When you really want breakfast in Plymouth, there is no shortage of restaurants to choose from. In fact, it may be difficult to decide before that first cup of coffee. We've asked Patch readers to vote for their favorite breakfast in Plymouth and the results were quite decided. Cafe Olio and T-Bones Roadhouse battled for the top spot beginning Wednesday, when both restaurants posted our poll on their Facebook pages. With passion on both sides, Cafe Olio's fans earned the most votes with 136 votes, 29 percent of the 466 total votes. But thanks to it's passionate fans, T-Bones Roadhouse wins the Best Breakfast crown with 121 votes and a full 25 percent of votes. One fan is Carole DiMaggio, who writes: "I like a lot of breakfast places in …

Pancakes, eggs Benedict, homemade waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, or maybe some granola, yogurt and fresh fruit, or a breakfast sandwich to go, there are plenty of places to get breakfast in Plymouth, but deciding where to go can be difficult early in the morning, before you've had that coffee. Chosing the best breakfast in Plymouth depends on a lot of things, such as where to get good coffee, and the sassiness of the waitresses (a sassy server is best at breakfast in this writer's opinion). It also depends on where you happened to live. It your in North Plymouth there's the 3A Cafe and their amazing bread. In Downtown Plymouth you might head to more than a dozen places: Persy's Place, Blue Blinds Bakery, Cornerstone Cafe, T-…

A bite nearby awaits in the most unexpected of places.
If you find yourself confronted with a long wait at the Registry of Motor Vehicles or a long day spent inside the building at 40 Industrial Park Road, The Jolly Bean Cafe may be a welcome sight. Owner Amanda Roy says The Jolly Bean is a coffee shop and cafe serving coffee, soups, sandwiches and hot dogs, located in lobby of the same building as the RMV and other state offices. On the menu are lattes, smoothies, low-fat yogurt muffins, in varieties such as marble crunch and whole grain cranberry apple, and breakfast sandwiches. Esselon Coffee, based in Hadley, Mass., provides coffee and espresso. Soupls are also available with a soup du jour each day. The Jolly Bean also offers a create-your-own grilled cheese option. Sandwiches and wraps …

Reconnect with your childhood at this family-owned coffee shop and bakery.
At Sweets Coffee, Cakes & Treats on Main Street in Kingston, there is no sign advertising that the baked goods are "just like mom's." That is because they are mom's. Maria Enemark whips up muffins, scones, cookies and cupcakes in the kitchen out back, according to daughter Stephanie, who helps her parents with their business. Sweets is a small café where you can relax and "feel like you're at home," Stephanie said. The shop offers coffee, tea and espresso drinks in addition to the "sweets." Asked about some of mom's specialties, Stephanie listed mini carrot cakes and Colombian cookies, which are similar to shortbread. Sweets bakes whole cakes, like a strawberries and whipped cream cake, and large quantities of cupcakes for special orders, …

This Pinehills establishment is a bakery, coffee shop, café and more, all rolled into one.
Prepare to be amazed at the selection of baked goods and foods on display and for sale at Café Olio, located on The Pinehills Village Green. Come by in the morning for a muffin or bagel and a coffee, stick around for a salad or panini for lunch and grab a loaf of bread or a pastry to take home. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. Olio is a "European-style, Italian-inspired café," says chef and owner Stephen Conti. He explained that "olio" is the Italian word for oil. The café offers breakfast, lunch, takeout, catering, a Sunday brunch and special events. The owner told how he was originally scouting for a location in Boston or Cambridge before he "fell in love with The Pinehills concept." He opened Olio in 2005 and expanded it in 2007…

Head to the Cordage Commerce Center for breakfast or lunch at this hidden eatery.
The Greenhouse Café X-press is a place to go for a "nice break," be it from work or a doctor's visit, owner Rick Rokes explains. Patrons may take advantage of Wi-Fi and enjoy a coffee or fruit snack while passing some time. The Greenhouse Café originally opened two years ago in the Plymouth Industrial Park, in a building which featured a greenhouse. At that time, he was the manager. He ended up buying the business and downsizing to the current location at the Cordage Commerce Center in North Plymouth because of high labor costs. The café continues to offer catering and will soon provide delivery. "It's all fresh, homemade,"Rokes said of the food. For lunch, the Greenhouse Cafe has fresh sandwiches and salads. The Beef on "Weck" is the …

The International House of Pancakes arrives in Plymouth.
Plymouth residents now have another dining option with the May 2 opening of an IHOP at The Shops at 5 plaza off Long Pond Road, which replaces the Uno Chicago Grill. IHOP is a family restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, according to Terry Case, vice president of operations for Mr. Stax Inc., which operates 52 IHOPs in the U.S., including the Plymouth location. It serves "good food with good service at a great value," he said. The menu offers a wide variety of foods, from pancakes, waffles and omelets for breakfast, to salads, sandwiches, burgers and steaks for lunch and dinner, Case explained. Patrons may order breakfast, lunch and dinner at any time of the day and everything on the menu may be wrapped to go. Pancake …

It doesn't get any closer to home than at this Manomet eatery.
In the back of Metro's Cafe in Manomet is the "Celebrity Wall," full of photographs, newspaper clippings and personal notes and autographs left by some of the more well-known patrons who have stopped by over the years, including former Patriots player Rick Cash, former U.S. Rep. William Delahunt and singer and actor Donnie Wahlberg. Even two soap opera stars dined here, owner Cindi Metro says, who later presented her with an orange teapot, to add to her collection. Below the wall is a bookshelf with toys and activities for the younger set. And by the front door are the names of customers who have passed on. Adding to the charm of Metro's are the mismatched mugs adorning the tables. The owner explained that they have been donated by …

Because not everyone can be Emeril...
I may have mentioned that my husband is a bit challenged when it comes to cooking. (Except, oddly, for crepes, which he picked up while living in Europe for a few years growing up, but which, of course, he only eats with either cheese or butter and sugar – but I’ll save that recipe for another column.) He has many other very redeeming qualities, though – he vacuums, he sweeps, he does windows – and, since we’ve had children, he’s produced absolutely wonderful Mother’s Day days for me – full of rest and relaxation, and usually take-out. But over the last few years, I’ve helped him out in the food department, ever since coming across this recipe in an issue of Cooking Light. It’s a make-ahead breakfast casserole that’s not only easy, and …
