Sacred Heart High School graduation takes place Friday, May 24.
Sacred Heart High School Class of 2013 will graduate 52 seniors Friday, including 19 from Plymouth. Graduation takes place at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the high school in Kingston. Awards and winners Share your graduate's success on Plymouth Patch by posting an announcement.
Tricia Delph is deaf, but it doesn't stop her from succeeding.
Tricia Delph, 16, studies CAD/CAM, or computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing at Bristol-Plymouth Technical High School. Although she's deaf and uses sign language to communitcate, she's fully mainstreamed in classes, and uses an interpreter to talk with her teachers. "She's very creative and excels at math," Tricia's mom, Patty Delph, said. Patty acted as interpreter for her daughter during a recent interview with Plymouth Patch. It was Tricia's creative and mathematical talents that convinced her READS teacher Laurie Achin to recommend Tricia apply to a science fair dedicated to deaf and hard of hearing students. Students, teachers, and families of Rising Tide Charter school took part in the Manomartian 3.5 mile race Saturday.
Rising Tide Charter School teachers, students and their families particpated and volunteered in the Manomartian 5k race Saturday. Each year the race benefits a local organization or charity, this year Rising Tide was selected. The Manomartian 3.5 mile race to benefit Rising Tide was a great success! Many students, families and teachers participated or volunteered. Several students and teachers finished in the top three of their respective divisions, including: Emily Pelo, Theresa Szczepanski, Emma Diamond, Anthony Papillo, Geoffrey Griffiths, Taybor Rich, Colin Reynolds, Matthew Doherty and Cynthia Favret. PNHS senior Jessica Morgan is attending the International Science Fair in Phoenix this week presenting her project "Antibubbles."
Jessica Morgan, a senior at Plymouth North will attend the International Science Fair sponsored by Intel in Phoenix, AZ, from May 12 to May 17, to compete with more than 4,000 other students from around the world. Morgan receiced the honor after earning second place and the National Youth Science Camp Award at the state science fair held at MIT earlier this month with five other Plymouth students. Science teacher Anne Wolf was selected for the American Chemical Society's Honor Society, Aulz Laudis.
In 1985 the Northeastern Section of the American Chemical Society established an Honor Society for high school chemistry teachers who teach or taught in the Section’s region (Eastern Massachusetts to Worcester county, and New Hampshire). Each spring the organization chooses four to five outstanding high school teachers nominated by their peers. Congratulations to science teacher Ann Wolf on her recent selection for membership in Aulz Laudis. Wolf is a teacher at Plymouth South High School and received similar recognition last year.
