Hot Weather, Thunderstorms Expected This Week

The work week will be a hot one in Plymouth with temperatures Monday through Friday expected to peak in the low 90s, according to the National Weather Service. Heat advisories are expected to be issued beginning Tuesday in some towns away from the coast.

The Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook on Monday morning, advising of a "moderate to high probability" of heat advisories being issued Tuesday through Friday, for afternoon heat indexes of 100 degrees or more.

In addition to the five consecutive days of 90-plus temperatures, the Weather Service said there will be an increased risk for scattered showers and thunderstorms from Thursday through Saturday.

Here's how the week looks:
Wednesday, mostly sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the morning.
Wednesday night, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southwest wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Thursday, chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91. West wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Thursday night, slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
Friday, mostly sunny, with a high near 90.
Friday night, partly cloudy, with a low around 74.
Saturday, chance of showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Mostly sunny, with a high near 88. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
