A New Look for Cinnaminson Football Players

The players will sport personalized jerseys in their new league this year.

Two days before the township’s football players open their season, more than 100 young athletes will be donning brand new uniforms in their new league.

On Thursday night, Cinnaminson football players were presented with brand new jerseys—complete with their last name on the back—and sweatshirts, also with their names.

“We were able to raise over $3,000 in town through local businesses,” said Ken Miller, football board member.

Two football coaches—Ryan Horner and Mike Toryk—did the fundraising all on their own, Miller said, with some help from other coaches and parents.

“Honestly, I was very humbled by the fact that these guys went out and did this,” Miller added. “They weren’t asked to do it.”

Other local teams also made the change and one of the biggest changes is a longer season.

“It’s going very well,” Miller said. “It’s a very well-run, organized league.“

Some and some stayed with Pop Warner for competition events.

In a special ceremony during football practice Thursday night, the kids got their new jerseys and all five teams will start this Saturday at home, beginning at 11 a.m. Jersey Mike’s donated sandwiches for the event.

“We never had names on the backs of their jerseys,” Miller said. “It’s definitely a cool thing for the kids.”

Local businesses that donated include: Jim Bernard’s Auto Services Center in Beverly; in Riverton, & Truck Service in Delran; in Cinnaminson; Ameriprise Financial in Moorestown; Outlaw Fitness in Riverton; Association; and P.J. Whelihan’s in Maple Shade.

The sponsors appear on the back of the football players’ sweatshirts.

“We are ready to go,” Miller said. “This new league is a good thing, the kids are excited, the coaches are excited. There’s a new energy in Cinnaminson football right now.”

Cinnaminson football is also still looking for more golfers for its golf tournament at noon on Sept. 24. Contact Miller at kmiller@hyperionbank.com for information.

I love the jerseys! I think it was a GREAT thing for our boys! These kids put so much hard work and dedication into this sport they deserve a Jersey with their name on it! Go Pirates!!

@ Chilly...I sure hope you don't find this to be wrong but I have to respond to ur comment. These boys never complained about their jerseys either. All they want to do is play football..they don't care if their jersey was older than them! This was something that everyone felt was well deserved. And you say that ur afraid this is focusing on their ego...I have watched these boys work together, grow together, support eachother and be proud to be a part of their team so if that's focusing on their ego I'm a huge supporter! Thank you again to all those involved who made our boys Proud to be a Football Player! They are all going to look sharp in their new jerseys!

Great looking jerseys for the teams. Mike and Ryan nice job in helping the program move forward. Mark, Ken, Steve and the rest of the Cinnaminson football board, these two guys do a great job in the baseball program. I'm sure they will do the same for the football program.
