Wind Turbine Behind Stop & Shop Nixed

A 275-foot tall wind turbine had been proposed.

The Zoning Board rejected a bid to install a wind turbine behind the Stop & Shop plaza, according to resident reports and WATD.

Zoning officials failed Wednesday to reach the needed "supermajority" required to approve the project, the radio station reported.

Local resident Bob Ercolini, posting here on Plymouth Patch, praised the decision.

"People won over corporate greed last [night] as Stop & Shop lost its bid to install its proposed 275-[foot] high industrial wind turbine at Myles Standish Plaza," Ercolini posted on the Plymouth Patch Speak Out section.

For more details on the decision, please visit the WATD Web site, where you can also hear an audio report on the subject.
