Keating Wins Re-election; Defeats Plymouth's Chris Sheldon

With 97 of 222 precincts reporting, Congressman Bill Keating has won his election bid to represent the 9th Congressional District.

William Keating has defeated Republican Christopher Sheldon and independent Daniel Botelho to represent the ninth Massachusetts District in Congress. Both the Boston Globe and WATD called the race around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night. With 97 of 222 precincts reporting, Keating received 85,478 votes to Sheldon's 42,310.

Independent candidate Daniel Botelho received 15,331 votes. 

Sheldon told Christine James, of WATD, "The numbers look pretty bleak, Congressman Keating ran a good race, I'm not calling it yet, but we’re coming to the end. We think we put together a strong support base if there’s something in the future."

Sheldon said he wasn't sure if he'll run again.

"Keating has done a good job representing the district, but I think we can find someone better and I will support that person," Sheldon said.
