At 3:52 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for every Massachusetts county except Eastern Plymouth County, including Plymouth, and Barnstable County, which is under a blizzard warning.

A coastal flood advisory for Thursday's midday tide cycle and a coastal flood warning for tonight's and tomorrow's high tides, is also in effect for Plymouth.

The blizzard warning is in effect until 11 a.m. Friday, according to the NWS warning, which reads in part:

"A coastal storm will bring heavy snow along with dangerously cold wind chills tonight into early Friday morning. Blizzard conditions are expected across portions of eastern Plymouth County and Cape Cod tonight into Friday morning."

Snow accumulations could reach eight to 14 inches, according to the NWS forecast, with the heaviest snowfall is expected to occur Thursday night when snow may fall at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

"Roads will be snow-covered and slippery today. Conditions will rapidly deteriorate tonight as snow becomes heavier and the winds increase. This will result in blizzard conditions at times tonight into Friday morning. Whiteout conditions are possible and travel may become impossible at times," the NWS advises.
