Sagamore Crash Victim From Israel

The victim who suffered fatal injuries in Thursday's crash at the base of the Sagamore Bridge was an Israeli man, whose name is not being released.

Several juveniles from Israel were also injured in the crash, as was a 43-year-old Sandwich man.

Massachusetts State Police are also updating the description of the pickup truck suspected of causing the crash.

"We are seeking a dark-colored pickup, as we previously stated, but the pickup most likely does not have heavy front end damage. Rather, it more likely has minor or moderate damage to its left front end or left side," the State Police release states.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect vehicle, described as a dark-colored pickup, was merging onto the Route 6 eastbound from the Scenic Highway when its left front or left side impacted the right front of the 2004 GMC Sierra operated by the Sandwich man, which was travelling east approaching the bridge. Evidence indicates that the impact forced the Sierra across the median and into the westbound lanes. In the rightmost westbound lane, the Sierra impacted the front of the Chrysler minivan, which was coming off the bridge heading west. The driver of the Sierra was ejected in the crash. The dark-colored pickup truck that initiated the sequence of events fled the scene.

His name is not being released at this time. Also, there is a slight correction to the description of the suspect vehicle being sought (see last paragraph below).



Passengers in the van, including several juveniles, were also from Israel. Some of the passengers also suffered injuries and were taken to area hospitals. State Police Media Relations at this time does not have further details on which hospitals to which these victims were taken. We do not identify juvenile victims. State Police at this time are not commenting on why the group from Israel was in Massachusetts.



Another victim, a 43-year-old Sandwich man who was operating a 2004 GMC Sierra pickup truck, was transported to South Shore Hospital with serious injuries. His identity is not being released at this time.
