Plymouth Man Charged with Homicide in Mattapan Shooting Death

Kewon Kelley, 26, of Plymouth was arraigned in Dorchester District Court on a murder charge stemming from the Feb. 17 shooting death of Rayshawn Few, 27, in Mattapan, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley.

In Dorchester, Assistant District Attorney Mark Lee told the court that Kelley, whose nickname according to the press release is "Killer," shot Few after an altercation that arose during a Woodruff Way party to which Few had brought several uninvited guests. Based on evidence developed since the night of the shooting, prosecutors approved a warrant for Kelley’s arrest late last month; he was arrested on that warrant yesterday
in Brockton.

According to the Boston Herald Rayshawn Lamont Few was shot in the collarbone and

died on his back in the front yard of a house on Woodruff Way on Feb. 17, blanketed by freshly falling snow, according to documents released today in Dorchester District Court.

“He was a good dude. You know, family oriented. He unfortunately died too young. He played with his son, mostly. Just played with his son,” Few’s stricken-looking cousin Michael Nichols said after Kelley pleaded not guilty to murder and firearm charges and was ordered held without bail by Judge Robert E. Baylor.

[Kelley], a line assembly worker at Gillette, was captured yesterday hiding in the shower stall of a home in Brockton by members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, the U.S. Marshals and Brockton police.

Boston Police responding to the scene of Few’s homicide spotted a car driving away from the scene at a high rate of speed. During the chase that followed, three men bailed out of that car.

Kelley will return to court April 12.
