He pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Merricks's attorney said in court that there was no evidence linking the explosives to his client and that they may belong to the son of his estranged wife, according to Boston.com.

Merricks was suspended this week after Plymouth police and a Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad discovered various explosive devices in a home that once belonged to him on Paddington Way. Authorities discovered four grenades, explosive detonation cords, blasting caps and a form of TNT explosive, according to Boston.com.
