Man Shot After Tring to Stab Plymouth Cop, Police Say

The man survived the shooting, authorities said.

A Plymouth police officer shot a homeless man Thursday after the man allegedly tried to stab the officer, police said.

Police encountered the man at about 5:45 p.m. when someone reported he was threatening to kill himself downtown, police said, according to MyFoxBoston.com.

The officer shot the man in the stomach area. The man was listed in stable condition at a local hospital. The officer was placed on paid leave pending an investigation, according to Fox.
