Drowning Victim Identified as WCVB Employee

A video editor and technician at WCVB died in a canoeing accident at Curlew Pond, Saturday.

The man who drowned in Curlew Pond in the Myles Standish State Forest on Saturday, Nov. 16, has been identified as Ron Sapp, 60.

Sapp worked for WCVB Channel 5 for 33 years as a video editor and technician, according to WCVB.

In an article on WCVB.com, Bill Fine, President and General Manager of WCVB-TV, expressed sadness:

"We are deeply saddened by the death of our friend and colleague Ron Sapp. Ron was an exceptional employee and a warm and friendly soul. This is a terrible tragedy and he will be sorely missed by everyone in the WCVB family."
