John L. Askins of Plymouth formerly of Roslindale died July 3. He is the Husband of Rose M. (Romano) Askins. Father of William H. Askins , Michael J. Askins and the late John L. Askins, Jr. Brother of Richard Askins of N.H., William Askins of Indiana, Joan Zanello of Kingston, Mary Govoni of Plymouth, Mildred Mann of Carver and Beverly Santarpia of Carver. Grandfather of Holly and Paige and great grandfather of Finn. Born in Norwood, MA. April 9, 1935 a son of the late John L. and Rita (MacDonald) Askins. Educated in the Roslindale Schools and Plymouth Schools and North Quincy Trade school. John worked with Commonwealth Electric/ Nstar as a Lineman. He served with the Army National Guard. 211th Artillery Unit. A member of the Plymouth Lodge of Elks and the V.F. W. #1822 Plymouth. See more at Cartmell Funeral Homes.

Marie Isabel (Wells) Karklin, 96, of Manomet, died quietly at home on July 2, wife of the late Edward K. Karklin. Loving mother of Kim M. Wood, Edward K. Jr., Mary L. Coombs and Paul A. all of Manomet and Michael R. of Caloocan City (Philippines). She also leaves 8 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a nephew, and 4 nieces. Sister of the late Jane W. Nugent. Marie was born in Ironton, Ohio, the daughter of Albert and Nell Wells. As her father worked for a railway, her family moved often and so Marie attended many schools, notably in Rosita, Mexico and San Francisco, CA. She graduated from Bridgewater State College and worked as a librarian/teacher for the Plymouth School Department at Manomet Elementary School and the Manomet Public Library, she also worked for the Faxon Company in Westwood as a Librarian.
