Plymouth North Freshman Laid to Rest Today

James Ward Jr., a freshman at Plymouth North, was laid to rest Tuesday.

James Anthony Ward, Jr., age 14, died unexpectedly as a result of a dirt bike accident Dec. 9.

Born Dec. 16, 1997, he was the beloved son of James Anthony and Jill (Carlson) Ward. James was educated in the Plymouth School system and was currently enrolled as a freshman at Plymouth North High School. He was a lifelong Plymouth resident.

According to his obituary, James was serving as a US Naval Sea Cadet in Buzzards Bay. He took pride in working through his many accomplishments. Throughout the years, James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and dirt bike riding, as a few of his favorite hobbies. He will be well remembered for his lively personality and zest for life. Besides leaving his father and mother, James and Jill, he was the beloved brother of Jacob Owen Ward of Plymouth. He was the paternal grandson of Gary and Ingrid Horton of New Bedford and maternal grandson of Edward and Joyce Carlson of Halifax. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral took place at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Interment will be in Vine Hills Cemetery in Downtown Plymouth.

Donations in James' memory may be made to the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps, Gosnold Division, 6 Shamrock Lane, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532.
