Honoring Our Veterans This Veterans Day

Share a story or a photo of the important veterans in your life.

As Plymouth takes time on 11/11/11 to honor those who serve and have served our country, take a moment to thank the vets in your life. As many folks enjoy a day off from work, or school, others will attend services or an American Legion breakfast to honor the sacrifice the members of the armed forces have made.

Here on Plymouth Patch, you can upload a photo of the veteran in your life. Friends and family, young and old–share a photo, a comment or a genuine note of thanks to the men and women who serve and have served.

Feel free to add photos, stories or comments to this article below. Plymouth Patch wants to recognize veterans of all ages and wars.

I'll go first: My dad, Jack Meserve, is my favorite veteran. He served in the Navy in '70s. He still talks about steaming through the Straits of Magellan and how cold it was that far south; as well as making port in Rio de Janeiro, and how much he liked living in San Diego when he wasn't on ship. Dad was a quartermaster, specializing in navigation. I've only seen him get lost once or twice in 30 years.

Dad is a very humble guy, he doesn't think serving made him special or set him apart. The sacrifices he made for his family make him special. I love you Dad. Happy Veterans Day.
