Natural Ways to Prevent or Shorten the Length of the Flu

Do you have the flu? This is a very aggressive flu season, in fact the worse one since 2009. These natural remedies can help....

Here are some natural ways you can prevent or shorten the length of the flu...

First, take a high-quality probiotic. 80 percent of your immune system is located in your digestive system.

Two recent studies show that Vitamin D is a potent antibiotic. Vitamin D increases the body's production of antimicrobial peptides. The 200 known antimicrobial peptides directly and rapidly destroy the cell walls of the influenza virus, and play a key role in keeping the lungs free of infection.

Vitamin C increases the production of infection-fighting white blood cells and antibodies and increases levels of interferon, the antibody that coats cell surfaces, preventing the entry of viruses

Olive leaf has the ability to contain viral infection and/or spread by inactivating viruses, ability to directlypenetrate infected cells and stop viral replication, and stimulates phagocytes, which clear foriegn particles from the blood.
Monolaurin is a chemical made from lauric acid, which is found in coconut milk and breast milk. It is has the ability to dissolve the outer envelope of viruses, bacteria, fungi, and certain protozoa. It's safe, it's in breast milk!

Black Elderberry extract (Sambucus nigra), has been reported to inhibit the ability of several strains of influenza virus to replicate. It also activates some immune cells that fight viruses.

In one study using a liquid extract of elderberry, 90 percent of the individuals with symptoms of influenza B were asymptomatic in 2-3 days, while individuals on placebo did not recover for at least six days.

Oregano also has a long tradition of use, dating back to ancient Greece. The volatile oils in oregano, specifically carvacrol and thymol, help support a healthy microbial environment in the intestines and throughout the body.

Astragalus is a Chinese herb with a respectful history as an immune tonic and helps support a healthy adaptive response to stress.

The Gaia brand of herbs has clinical evidence that their products, Echinacea Supreme and Quick Defense, are effective.

Homeopathy has a spectacular track record against the flu. Gelsemium, byronia, eupatorium, and aconite are the most proven remedies. Anas barbariae is the most popular flu remedy, Oscillococcinum is the most popular brand.

During the 1918 flu epidemic, Dean W. A. Pearson of Philadelphia collected 26,795 cases of influenza treated by homoeopathic physicians with a mortality of 1.05%, while the average allopathic mortality rate was 30%.

Dr. Anthony Morris, a distinguished virologist and former Chief Vaccine Office at the U.S. Federal Drug Administration (FDA), states that “There is no evidence that any influenza vaccine thus far developed is effective in preventing or mitigating any attack of influenza” and that “The producers of these vaccines know they are worthless, but they go on selling them anyway.”
