Help a Local Family with Breast Cancer Medical Costs

A mother of two is fighting cancer for the third time, and her family and friends are banding together on GoFundMe.com to help offset the medical costs.

The Help Peggy and Michael page was set up in June and has raised $5,895 of its $7,500 goal.

The page, created by Kim Hubert, explains Peggy's story:

When Peggy was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia in May 2007 everyone knew she was a fighter. Then when she was diagnosed in January of 2008 with breast cancer she defined strength. She had a double mastectomy, chemo, radiation and reconstructive surgery. She took care of herself, her husband Michael and her two children Michael and Mackenzie. She handled her treatment and recovery with beauty and grace. Now, just four months from completing her five years of tamoxifen...the unthinkable happened. Peggy learned that the breast cancer was back.Words no cancer survivor ever wants to hear. But Peggy said, " I am a fighter. Let's get started."
This site was started to help Peggy and Michael with medical costs and to help with the financial burdens they are about to face with the road ahead.

Earlier this week, Kim provided an update on Peggy's health:

So...someone asked me today for an update on Peggy. She then suggested I post it here, so here it is!Peggy is doing great! She did need a blood transfusion last week, but this week her blood work is better!! She feels good and looks great! I just wanted to thank everyone for their continued support of my sister in law Peggy and my brother Michael. The generosity of everyone is so amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
