Community Corner

Sampe Fest at Plimoth Grist Mill

A Celebration of our Newest Exhibit–Plimoth Grist Mill and all Things Corn

WHAT: Sampe is ground corn, much like grits, and was a dietary staple of both the Pilgrims and Native Wampanoag people. Plimoth Plantation will host Sampe Fest on November 2, 2013 in celebration of the first season of Plimoth Grist Mill – the Museum’s newest living exhibit. Join us as we revel in all things corn with fall-themed activities and yummy corn-inspired dishes. Watch the Miller move the 2,200 pound stone, harness the power of the Town Brook and grind corn. Highlights include: Live music, crafts for kids, cooking demonstrations and delicious treats from local vendors.

WHEN: Saturday November 2, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

WHERE: Plimoth Grist Mill – Your Community Mill! 6 Spring Lane, Plymouth, Massachusetts

WHY: Fall is one of the most beautiful seasons at Plimoth Plantation and Plimoth Grist Mill and johnny cakes and Indian pudding are in prefect taste  – especially when the corn is freshly ground right before your eyes!
