The Deep
Black

PLYMOUTH, MA – Artist Exposure
Gallery is gearing up to officially open The Deep Black by our 2014 Emerging
Artist Sara E. Dubois.

Sara
E. Dubois is an exciting young artist who has steadily been building her
reputation among New England audiences over the past three years.  With an amazing total of just over twelve
group shows under her belt, The Deep Black will be her first
solo exhibition before her artistic path takes her to the West Coast.

Sara
creates associations with self through intaglio prints that evoke the emotional
scales of sensitivity and states of mind as she moves through the urban
landscape. The intaglio medium is a prominent tool in her creative
process.  The deep black that is unique
to mezzotints and aquatint is most appealing and she employs it often.  On the lighter side, Sara’s pottery,
hand-made looms and woodcuts will also be on display.

Of
her work, she writes ‘Character is what
we are unobserved; my work represents that which cannot be seen openly by
others.  These works are depictions of
what I have seemingly caused myself to become, by my given responses to various
experiences.’

Corner II

Deeply
intuitive, Sara responds to her environment and expresses herself through ink
and copper to portray quietness rather than a place.  Her work is considered and carefully executed
on the print surface bridging a strong relationship with the subject and the
space around it.

Sara
is an emerging artist who has captivated audiences with her dynamic and
dedicated approach to her work. She has featured pottery, hand-made looms,
woodcuts and prints in many Boston art and library venues.  In her short career, Sara has established herself
as an emerging artist of unique talent.
