Plymouth? There’s an App for That

A Plymouth resident has created a mobile application that allows businesses to share their sales, specials, and events with their customers

Matt O’Keefe, 40, thought up the Plymouth Pass application when he was working as a salesman selling mobile applications to businesses and discovered that most local businesses don’t have the budgets to afford the valuable marketing strategy.

While Facebook has worked for many local business, and many are turning to Twitter as well, Facebook’s new pay-for-views strategy has turned some business owners off to the social media behemoths.

That’s where O’Keefe hopes Plymouth Pass can step in and fill the niche.

“Mobile replaces about 20 percent of a business’s marketing and advertising budget,” O’Keefe said. “It shouldn’t replace all of it, but it should be a part.”

The Plymouth Pass provides a place for Plymouth businesses to post their information and keep it updated at a click. Businesses can post sales, specials, and events, and their customers can access that information with a fingertip.

The app’s main menu features six basic categories: venues, events, locator, favorites, historic information, and contact. Users can choose from several venue categories including bars and restaurants, health and beauty, attractions, shops, and services.

Looking to find out the specials at your favorite restaurants or find out what bands are playing at your favorite venue? You can scroll through the restaurants, tap on a selection and see all the newest information uploaded by the restaurant manager.

“This is an all-encompassing app. to get around Plymouth,” O’Keefe said. “It’s simple, engaging and easy to use.”

Using the Locator, you can see a map of Plymouth featuring businesses and events near you, and their latest updates.

Tap on Events to see what’s happening across town and around the corner. You can also add events or businesses to your favorites to make it even easier to find what you want.

Businesses can use “Push” notifications to get their sales and events to customers.

O’Keefe also hopes the app. will become popular with tourists who want to see what’s happening without having to search. He’s discussed the app’s possibilities with Destination Plymouth and hopes that it can be useful for international tourists as well as residents of nearby towns who make day trips.

The app is free on the Apple App Store and for Android at Google Play, learn more at theplymouthpass.com
