Jordan Hospital Changes Name to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth

The Massachusetts Public Health Council approved Jordan Hospital's change of ownership.

Jordan Hospital is changing its name to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth, effective Jan. 1, 2014.

The name change comes after the Massachusetts Public Health Council approved the application for an ownership change, making Jordan Hospital part of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

The change formally reflects the partnership and is similar to name upgrades that occurred in Milton and Needham.

"This alliance will be a significant benefit to patients in the Jordan Hospital service area, providing access to world-class academic medical care in Plymouth and surrounding communities."

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Jordan Health Systems Inc. agreed to merge on August 1.

Jordan Hospital will retain its own local board, local management and staff. The hospital will also remain separately licensed.
