Five Things: A Music Festival and Murder Mystery

1. This year the Plymouth Independent Music Festival is a 3-day affair. Five stages and a ton of bands, all for free – you’ll get a great taste for the epicenter of the South Shore music scene as you spend a whole weekend taking in a great range of indie music. Click here for the complete lineup

2. Hat Trick Theatre presents Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap, at 8 p.m. Friday, July 18, downstairs at Kendall Hall at First Parish Church.

3. Join Plimoth Plantation for a screening of the 2010 independent film, Amigo, bookended by an exclusive meet-and-greet and Q&A session with Director John Sayles, Producer Maggie Renzi and Actor Chris Cooper. The pre-film reception begins at 5:30 p.m. in Plimoth Cinema with the film starting promptly at 6:30 p.m. After the film, Sayles, Renzi and Cooper will stand for a Q&A session about Amigo, the film industry, independent film and their experiences in the field.
Tickets for Amigo and the included discussion event are $15 for members of the Museum and $20 for non-members. The concession stand will open at 5:30 p.m. and boxed suppers are available by pre-order. Beer and wine will also be available at a cash bar.

4. Doggie Fun & Fitness Center in Kingston, is celebrating its 3rd annual Open House Family Fun Day. Open to the public, there will be dog training and agility demonstrations, as well as activities for the kids, including a moonwalk, slip ‘n slide and dunk tank. Donations will be accepted for the Friends of the Plymouth Pound. Last year we raised over $2,000, enough to spay/neuter 10 dogs before they went to their forever homes. We hope to beat that this year!

Friendly dogs welcome on leash can receive training tips and nail trims for a donation.

5. Camp Clark is offering after-camp swim lessons for the general public.  Lessons are available for ages 6 months up, including private lessons.  Classes will run in two week sessions, with session 3 running from July 29 to Aug. 9, and session 4 from Aug. 12 to Aug. 23.  The cost is $50 for 30 minute lessons, and $57 for 45 minute lessons.  Contact Program Coordinator Michael McGrath for schedule and to discuss which class would be appropriate for you or your child: 508-888-2290 or mmcgrath@oldcolonyymca.org.
