Snowbound? Make Snow Ice Cream!

When life hands you lemons you make lemonade, when life hands you a blizzard, make snow ice cream.

There are a couple of recipes for snow ice cream, but I perfer the version made with condensed milk.

Here are two recipes.

Paula Deen's Snow Ice Cream

  • 8 cups snow, or shaved ice
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Place snow or shaved ice into a large bowl. Pour condensed milk over and add vanilla. Mix to combine. Serve immediately in bowls.

Original recipe makes 8 servings Change Servings

  • 1 gallon snow
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups milk

  • When it starts to snow, place a large, clean bowl outside to collect the flakes. When full, stir in sugar and vanilla to taste, then stir in just enough milk for the desired consistency. Serve at once.

The Pilgrim Nuclear Station lost power and was in a state of emergency, no one should be eating the snow, especially children. Nuclear stations vent radiation all the time, no one should eat the snow anywhere around a nuclear plant even when it is not in a state of emergency. Please pull this story, it could cause harm to the children of Plymouth.

I don't live anywhere near snow now, but I grew up in Southeast Arkansas where it snows every winter. My Momma used to make snow ice cream and it was the most awesome part of coming in out of the weather! Her recipe was similar to Paula Dean's. If you haven't before, you should try it! Just reading about it brought such great memories of home!
