Plymouth Natives Wins Valentine's Wedding at Empire State Building

A couple of Plymouth natives reconnected over Facebook 23 years after they grew up together. They were married Feb. 14 at the Empire State Building.

A pair of Plymouth natives were one of three couples married on Valetine's Day at the Empire State Building after winning a contest on the skyscraper's Facebook page.

According to Boston.com, Plymouth resident John Kelly and his fiancee Kari Morey, of Yorktown, Va., won their wedding by submitting a video telling their love story

In it, Morey talked about how the couple has known each other for 36 years after growing up together in Plymouth. The two had been friends in elementary school, but there was never any spark. He was the “scrawny boy next door” and she was the “goodie-goodie,” Morey said.

The two went their separate ways, with Kelly joining the Army and getting married and Morey getting married and becoming a nurse. After 23 years, the two reconnected over Facebook. He asked her to a Wounded Warriors event on Veteran’s Day, and the rest was history, she said.

“Since the moment it started,” Morey said in the video, “I knew he was the man for me.”
