Northern Lights May Appear in Skies Over Cape

With clear skies predicted over the Cape and Islands overnight, chances are good that if northern lights result from this week's solar flare, we might be able to see the celestial display.

A strong solar flare facing the Earth earlier this week may bring us a rare display of aurora borealis, or northern lights, overnight Wednesday into Thursday, according to reports.

"Anyone in the suburbs of Boston, New York City, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., or Philadelphia has a chance at seeing this," said meteorologist Mark Paquette on the Accuweather website.
