South Pond Chapel "Sunday Hymn Sing" 2014 Season Announced

The South Pond Chapel Summer Hymn Sing schedule for 2014 was recently announced; the first hymn sing will take place on Sunday, July 6.

Summer hymn sings at the South Pond Chapel are sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Plymouth. The Chapel is located at 211 Long Pond Road, off exit 5 in Plymouth. Each Sunday in July and August a different area minister leads the 7:00pm service.

South Pond Chapel was built in 1870 as a Union Evangelical church for residents of the village at South Pond in Plymouth; it offered them a place to worship close to their homes in what, at the time, was a remote part of town. The 144-year old Chapel is a mission of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth, offering a place for people of all denominations to gather to sing their favorite old-time hymns and gospel songs together, and to hear special music.

The schedule for the 2014 season is as follows:

7/6 Reverend Gary Marks (retired)
7/13 Reverend Dave Frederickson (Christ Church)
7/20 Reverend Bob Merritt (retired)
7/27 Reverend Bob Stott (Zion Lutheran Church)
8/3 Reverend Irving Beveridge (retired)
8/10 - To Be Announced
8/17 Reverend Helen Nablo (Church of the Pilgrimage)
8/24 Rev. Fillebrown (Chiltonville Congregational Church) (Old Home Day)

Directions to the South Pond Chapel are as follows: Route 3 to exit 5 (Long Pond Road exit); turn west towards Home Depot; drive approximately 2 miles on Long Pond Road; South Pond Chapel will be on the right, at the intersection with Cemetery Hill Road.
