 Representative Tom Calter to host official campaign kickoff March 29 at Jones River Trading Company

 KINGSTON, MA, ISSUED MARCH 18, 2014…The Committee to Re-Elect Tom Calter will host an official “Campaign Kickoff” event Saturday, March 29, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Jones River Trading Company, 42 Elm Street.

 Join friends and fellow supporters for a night of camaraderie, and hear from Representative Calter on why he strives to continue to serve the 12th Plymouth District. The event will include live music, great food, and a chance for attendees to share ideas. In fact, the recent invitation mailed to supporters throughout the district includes a place where people can share a piece of advice about what is important to them.

While this is a key fundraiser, Representative Calter understands the range of life circumstances that his constituents are in, so there is no specific contribution required. Please make a decision on what is best individually, and friends and supporters are urged to bring others.

Representative Calter was first elected in 2006 and has served four terms.  Highlighting his many priorities over this past term, he has filed legislation and/or has been working actively on restoring water quality to Monponsett Pond and Silver Lake; increasing substance abuse awareness in our community; creating a mechanism for returning School Resource Officers to our schools; ensuring pay equity for women; increasing funding for veterans services; and advocating for the needs of both of special education students and day students.

 

Previously, he served his hometown of Kingston, MA as Vice Chairman of Kingston’s Finance Committee, and as a member of the town’s Rent Control Board, the Jones River Watershed Association, and the Silver Lake Regional School Committee. He and his wife Patty have three grown children: Ryan, Kerri, and Patrick; and are grandparents to a growing family.

 

Prior to serving in this role, he worked in the environmental service industry for more than 30 years. In his business career, he has served as Senior VP of a publicly-traded company, CEO of the fastest privately held environmental service company in New England, and Senior Partner of RKP Capital Services. He has helped create jobs, mentor young professionals, and helped to re-build struggling organizations.
