"Matt went on,” said Coach John Flaherty, “to have a great 4 year career for Jerry York BCH’63 at Boston College, playing a significant role in Beanpot and National titles along the way. At BC he was voted the Hockey East Best Defensive Forward in 2008, the year BC won the NCAA Championship. Matt was a major factor in getting BC into three Frozen Four Championships.”

Joe McCabe, Matt's coach at BC High and now BC High's Assistant Athletic Director, said:“Matt was an all around outstanding young man and a credit to his school, family and community, a great role model for the younger players.
