17 Plymouth Restaurants Inspected in May

Recent Board of Health inspections show that few Plymouth restaurants need to correct violations, but there are some that did, such as Rose & Vicki's. Did your favorite place get a clean report?

Food service inspector Joseph Murphy went to 17 Plymouth restaurants and food service locations across Plymouth this month. Most of the locations received passing grades, but a couple had some issues. When Murphy visited Metro’s Café at 775 State Road, May 6, he noted restaurant staff needed to repair a rear screen door and clean the vents over the stove. Rose & Vicki's Bakery and Sub Shop received the OK for most of the May 6 inspection, but Murphy noted the restaurant's back room and bakery area needed a "good thorough clean up..." Here are the other restaurants and food service inspections, the date and any violations. Panera Bread, 138 Colony Place, May 2, no violations Papa Gino’s, 81 Carver Road, May 2 Subway, 131 Commerce Way, May 2…

The Planning Board declines to take a side in the debate between an environmental la.wfirm and Entergy

As Entergy continues plans for a dry cask storage facility at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station, the Planning Board has decided against taking a stand on whether the facility adheres to Plymouth zonging bylaws. Entergy intends to move spent fuel rods into the casks over time, currently spent rods are held in pools. The energy company  received a permit from Plymouth building inspector Paul Mcauliffe to build a concrete pad for the casks. Environmental law firm EcoLaw appealed the permit. Monday, the Planning Board split on the interpretation of a town zoning bylaw that defines the term “accessory structure” and whether Entergy’s project qualified, according to The Manomet Current. Jim Lambert, representing EcoLaw, the casks were not accessory …

Here in Vermont in 2004, our Entergy reactor had an impressive 100 foot flames transformer fire. Entergy took responsiblity for it due to deferred maintenance. Hmmm. What about that auxilary oil pump motor at Pilgrim? When was it last inspected? Then a few years later was the spectacular cooling tower collapse up here in VT. Pictures of both are on the office walls up here. Entergy - oh we will …   more ›

Your Next Car: What's It Going to Be?

Gas mileage, style, affordability, predicted life span or practicality – what qualities are you looking for in your next car?

My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B. We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. We're looking for something that gets good gas mileage, and is …
