Wounded Soldiers Share Veterans Day With Braintree Kids
Two Plymouth veterans were among a group of wounded veterans who shared stories about their military experiences with Braintree kids.
Several local veterans spoke with students at Braintree After School Enrichment on Monday, sharing stories about their military experience and their athletic prowess despite disabilities.
The veterans were:
Mark Sanders, of Plymouth, a veteran of the U.S. Marines who was injured in Beirut.
Charlie Schena, of Plymouth, an Air Force Veteran who served during Vietnam.
Shawn Delfino, of Newtonville, a veteran of the Army National Guard who served in Iraq in 2008 and 2009.
"So many kids are used to video games," Delfino said. "They think it's just for fun and games."
Mike Guilbault, of Attleboro, a veteran of the Air Force and recreation director with the New England Paralyzed Veterans of America.
"There's pretty much nothing that you guys can do that we can't do," Guilbault said.
