What Do I Take to the Shelter?
The American Red Cross offers tips on what to take with you if you need to head to a storm shelter.
Say you’re out of power and you’re evacuating to a shelter.
Well, what do you bring?
You’ll need a go bag. Think hard on what you need to get by without being in your house for up to three days. Suggestions:
- Flashlight
- Radio (hand crank or battery-powered)
- Extra batteries
- First aid kit
- Medications
- Multi-purpose tool
- Sanitation/personal hygiene items
- Cell phone and charger
- Emergency blanket
- Emergency contact card
- Extra cash
- Map
- Glasses
