Plymouth Police Captain's Gun Stolen in Court
A captain with the Plymouth Police Department reportedly had his gun stolen inside Wareham District Court on Monday.
Capt. John Rogers Jr. reportedly put down his handgun in the bathroom around 3 p.m., and when he went to retrieve it, the gun was gone. The gun is still missing, reports Fox 25.
Chief Michael Botieri told the Boston Herald that Rogers left the bathroom forgetting to pick up the gun, When he went back for it minutes later, it was gone.
Rogers immediately notified court officials. A weapon-sniffing dog from Massachusetts State Police, and local police did a sweep of the courthouse, including passing everyone inside through a metal detector, and taking the names of all employees who were on duty, anyone who'd been in their offices and those scheduled to appear in court.
The investigation is ongoing.

What an idiot this guy is protecting the people of Plymouth? NO EXCUSE. What if someone uses this gun to kill school children or others? Should we take away police officers handguns because of a manager who didnt get the proper training? Maybe entergy could provide more money for better training!

Wallet compared to gun....um ya not seeing the comparison there! A criminal cant take his wallet and kill someone! Funny you dont see the union officers doing things like this. You only see cocky management getting into stuff like this. If the gun is used in a crime who is responsible the captain? Thats how it would be for regular Joe with an unlocked gun they are responsible for the crime committed. Hey chief instead of taking all entergys donations and buying armored riot vehicles why dont you invest in some more training for your management staff!!

He is human and it just shows the most experienced of gun handlers make mistakes. However, I know a person who left a gun unattended in a locked vehicle and was charged with a felony. This outcome was way worse in the officer's situation. Will he be charged?? I certainly hope not as it wasn't intended to happen. But it was not on his person and i assume it was loaded. So ...

why do you think he is experienced because he's a cop when i took my safety class the instructor said the police he worked with scared him one even jammed his gun after investigating the instructor found 3 different types of ammo in the gun when asked where he got the ammo he said he found them on the ground on the range so let's not assume they all are so experienced

yea except when the rest of us make a mistake we have to pay for it if that were a regular citizen they would lose their license to carry did anyone bother to ask why he had to take it out to wash his hands someone isnt telling the whole story. the police are so critical of everyone else we should be the same full investigation on the officer

Does not surprise me.... the Plymouth police dept are so clueless to everything and everyone around them, they sleep in their cruisers in the parks at night, walk out of bathrooms without their weapons were known criminals are, shoot first without trying to resolve a situation, and are relentless to the younger generation in town instead of trying to be a positive role model to them... But as usual the investigation will find "No Wrong doing on the officers part, the bathroom was to blame..."

Just like the Plymouth police to conduct an investigation and will close it without putting in the time and effort to get the all the facts. The Plymouth police department needs to be renamed.........F TROOP!!

So when a doctor makes a mistake and someone dies, they have malpractice to cover them. So if they make a mistake where someone actually dies, they get to keep their jobs and lives. Unfortunately, police officers do not have the same. And he went to the bathroom, it never said he was washing his hands. If he had a waste holster on and had to go to the bathroom, it would have to come off in order to get his pants down. Maybe before we throw stones, we should take a step back and think about all the hard work that people do and remember that mistakes do happen. I can see concern for something terrible happening with that gun but everyone is entitled to make mistakes no matter how large or small. The next time we are so quick to judge, maybe we should take the time to put ourselves in the shoes of someone who willing goes out there every day, risking their own lives, to save those of us whom they have never met.

He should be fired. You never lose your gun, what an idiot. I served as an MP for 4 years in the Army and never had an issue losing any of my weapons. What a freaken dummy.
