Pilgrim, Union Reach Agreement on New Contract, End Lockout

UWUA Local 369 has cancelled a planned rally on the steps of the State House today as the union and Entergy have come to a tentative agreement on a new contract.

Management and unionized workers at Pilgrim reached reached a tentative agreement on a new contract, it was announced this morning.

Union membership is scheduled to vote on the new contract Wednesday.

Union president Dan Hurley said in a statement that the contract has "important protections" for workers.

Pilgrim vice president Robert Smith said the labor contract was "fair and equitable."

No details in the contract have been released.

two weeks ago when the previous four-year contract expired without agreement. Entergy locked out union workers after UWUA Local 369 leadership said membership would strike without notice. Entergy has been using for the past two weeks to fill positions. The union also with the National Labor Relations Board.

The lockout led to outcry from Plymouth residents and politicians concerned with safety at the plant.

Today's planned rally at the State House has been cancelled.
