Paid Parking Begins April 1 in Downtown Plymouth

Metered parking in downtown Plymouth and the Waterfront begins April 1.

Even if the weather is ignoring the calendar, Spring has finally sprung and with it comes paid parking.

Metered on and off street parking begins Monday, April 1.

Meters on most streets and in designated lots cost 50 cents per hour all season. The exceptions are meters on Water Street and Town Wharf, which cost 50 cents between April 1 and May 26. From Memorial Day to Labor Day the rate increases to one dollar an hour.

Here's a bit more about the ways to pay:

Paid parking lots employ Luke II Pay Stations, which accept MasterCard and Visa debit/credit cards, and US coins and bills. If using cash you must use exact amounts because the machines do not give change. Pay stations also employ Extend-Time-By Cell technology, which gives customers the option to provide a mobile phone number and receive a text message reminder when a parking session is about to expire. They may add time to parking by simply replying to the reminder with the amount of additional time needed to park. Extend-Time-By-Cell is simple to use, does not require the end user to set up any type of user account and is compatible with virtually all mobile phones.

Lots along the waterfront employ Pay-By-Cell technology, and iPhone, Android, Windows 7, and Blackberry users who park in these locations and have a “Parkmobile” app installed on their phones may pay to park without even touching a pay station.   To use the pay-by-cell feature, customers simply download the Parkmobile app to their cell phones, or log into the parkmobile.com website, and register their user account information.  This free account allows customers to pay to park with their registered mobile phone immediately, and the download and free registration only takes a few minutes.  Customers may also pay-by- cell via the Parkmobile website, QR code, or call toll free, 1-877-727- 5717.  User account options include the ability to receive text message alerts and reminders for when parking is set to expire, and parking receipts are stored in your personal file every time you pay for parking. Customers will pay an additional charge of .35 cents per transaction to use the service. Visit the Park Plymouth website to download the app and discover Pay-By-Cell lot locations.

Anyone having trouble with pay stations or meters should immediately call the Park Plymouth office at 508-747-5929 for assistance.
