Murray Has No Interest in Congressional Run

Senate President Therese Murray says she has no interest in a possible run for the new 9th District seat. Says she's focused on running for re-election.

Senate President Therese Murray's office denied any possibility that the Plymouth state Senator would run for Congress in the newly created 9th District.

"No, there is no truth to the rumor. Senator Murray has been very clear that she intends to run for re-election as the Senator from Plymouth and Barnstable District," Deputy Director of Communications in Murray's office, Laura Schroeder said in an email.

The Boston Herald reported today that the new district lines raise the prospect of a run by Senate President Therese Murray, suggested by Peter Ubertaccio, a political science professor at Stonehill College.
