Last Week of the Plymouth Farmers' Market

This is the last week to hit the farmers' markets on Thursday and Saturday. But don't worry, the indoors winter market begins in November.

The end of the outdoor market season at Stephens Field and on the Courthouse Green arrives this week along with expected cold and wet weather. Please join the farmers and food-makers for the last markets of the 2011 season for fabulous specials on potatoes, onions, greens, grass-fed beef, tea breads, honey and more. Dress warmly and stop by to say goodbye to your favorite marketeers.

The winter-into-spring market at Plimoth Plantation begins Thursday, Nov. 10. The indoor market is held on the second Thursday of each month through April from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

Edible South Shore's Harvest Market will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 20 under the big tent on the Waterfront. The market features local farmers and food during America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration.

Got pumpkins at the market and don't know what to do with them? Here are some pumpkin recipes from PumpkinNook.com for traditional pumpkin pie (so much better than the stuff from the can), pumpkin streusel muffins, pumpkin chili  and you know that pumpkin beer that is nearly impossible to get (you know the one, made in Maine that tastes like cinnamon)? Now you can make it yourself.
