Council on Aging Open as Shelter

The Plymouth Council on Aging, at 44 Nook Road, is open as a shelter for the Blizzard of '13. Please call before if you plan on coming at 508-830-4230. Bring blankets and pillows. If you have medical conditions that require any assistance we reccommend you call Plymouth South High School.

Offsite power restored to Pilgrim

Off-site power was restored to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station earlier today. Site power had been provided by on site diesel generators since winter storm Nemo disrupted the electric transmission grid resulting in an automatic plant shutdown on Friday.

The plant will be returned to service following the completion of maintenance and testing activities.

The emergency shelter has been moved to Plymouth South High, according to Superintendent Gary Maestas.

The statewide driving ban will be lifted at 4 p.m. and will be lifted immediately for Nantucket County and for all communities west of I-91, said Governor Governor Deval Patrick.

NStar reports power outages across the region. Approximately 90 percent of NStar customers in Plymouth are without power tonight. The outage affects more than 26,000 customers in Plymouth. NStar's outage map updates every five minutes.

Governor Deval Patrick has banned all vehicle traffic as of 4 p.m. today.

Patrick said in a press conference Friday that only public safety workers and public works vehicles critical to government functions will be allowed on the roads. Violaters could face up to one year in prison along with a fine.

Schools closed Friday

Plymouth public schools are closed today. Rising Tide Charter School and Sacred Heart schools are also closed.

Emergency Shelter opens at PSMS

The Town of Plymouth will be opening an Emergency Shelter at the Plymouth South Middle School for the blizzard at noon today (Friday).  More information regarding area local and regional shelters can be obtained by dialing 211. 

NStar offers suggestions for items to include in a storm kit

• Flashlights with spare batteries
• A battery-operated radio or TV
• First-aid kit and medications
• Canned, freeze-dried or dehydrated foods
• A manual can opener
• Bottled water
• Baby or pet supplies
• Important phone numbers

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard watch for eastern Plymouth County. The NWS is predicting snow accumulations between 18 and 24 inches, hurricane force wind gusts, and whiteout conditions for Friday night and Saturday morning.

Plymouth Schools Closing Early

In anticipation of the severe snow storm expected tomorrow, Friday, February 8th, the following early dismissals will be observed.

• AM PreK - Half-day schedule
  PM PreK - NO SCHOOL 
• AM/PM Kindergarten – NO SCHOOL 
• Full-Day Kindergarten - Half-day schedule 
• High School - Dismissal at 10:30 a.m. 
• Middle School - Dismissal at 11:30 a.m. 
• Elementary School - Dismissal at 12:30 p.m. 
  (elementary lunches will be served half-hour early)

Curry College campus closed Friday and Saturday

Curry College classes will be cancelled and offices will be closed on Friday and Saturday at the Milton and Plymouth campuses.

Downtown Parking Ban in Effect 

A parking ban will be in effect Friday, Saturday and Sunday between at 1:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. The ban will effect main roads and side streets in Downtown Plymouth and the Waterfront between Hedge Road and Stephens Field. Click here for more information and a map.
