Colonial Reenactor Shares Advice for New Plimoth Gard
Learn what it takes to be a colonial military reenactor at the Plymouth Center for the Arts.
New Plimoth Gard is a brand-new group of early colonial military reenactors that will demonstrate colonial military maneuvers at special events, parades and celebrations in Plymouth.
The New Plimoth Gard is looking for people to demonstrate those arts at special events, parades and historical celebrations in Plymouth and beyond.
As the calendar ticks down to 2020, group member Steve Mattern of Plymouth said there will be many opportunities to demonstrate and reenact.
"Bring your enthusiasm and ideas," Mattern said. "No military or reenactor experience necessary. We will learn about the weapons, armor and clothing worn by the early English settlers. The aim is to demonstrate early 17th century military practices with historical accuracy."
Anyone interested in Plymouth history is invited to attend Monday May 21 at 7 p.m. at Plymouth Center for the Arts. An experienced reenactor will be sharing his experience and giving advice on how to get started - costumes, weapons, armor, and learning military drills. No need for previous experience, there will be plenty of help available to get you started. Email email@example.com for more information.
