Plimoth Plantation is delighted to host a special line-up of holiday festivities on December 15 in the Museum’s Visitor Center.
Dressing of the Trees
Hands on Activities 3 to 4 pm – Lantern Light Procession 4 to 5 pm FREE for Members. $3.00 non-members.
What better time to celebrate trees and the natural world than the Christmas season? Come share in the ancient European tradition—Dressing of the Trees! Help us make lanterns to “dress” the trees and ornaments to feed the birds.
After you’ve put the finishing touches on your lantern, join us on a procession that leads to the Wampanoag Homesite where, sitting by the fire in a Native home, you’ll hear about the special significance of trees in Wampanoag culture. Next, our procession will go wassailing (caroling) to a candle-lit 17th-century English home where the Master
and Mistress will invite you in for some wassail (hot mulled cider). As the daylight wanes, we will adorn some trees with our lanterns and bird-friendly ornaments and sing a carol or two as we wend our way back to the Visitor Center.
WHAT to BRING:
• Empty baby food or jam jars to transform into lanterns.
• And an empty half-pint milk carton to make into a Pilgrim Gingerbread House.

A Christmas Carol: Reading and Baked Goods Sale
6:30 to 8:30 pm – FREE!
End your evening on an inspiring note! Plimoth Plantation presents a very special reading of A Christmas Carol in the Museum’s Gainsborough Hall. Dickens’ classic will be performed by a gathering of the Museum’s Colonial interpreters who are donating their talents to provide hay for the Museum’s rare breeds farm animals in the cold winter months ahead. This event is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be available.
